We'll leave the well-trodden tourist trails behind to seek out the quiet, authentic corners of Germany. Day 1- Heidelberg: The Romantic City- and Speyer's Historical Roots: A Glimpse into the Past

After being picked up at the Frankfurt airport, your small group tour will head to Heidelberg. Experience the quintessential romance of Germany in Heidelberg, a city of picturesque hills, a winding river, and truly magnificent castle ruins.

Walk the cobblestone streets of the Old Town (Altstadt) and explore the imposing, red-brick Heidelberg Castle (via funicular) nestled high above the Neckar River. Finish your late afternoon by crossing the Old Bridge and touching the famous "Bridge Monkey," a bronze statue said to bring good fortune. Followed by a welcome reception on the Neckar River and a city tour. That evening, you’ll savor a (self-paid) dinner which will be a true taste of Germany, served in an authentic local restaurant before traveling onward to Speyer for a welcomed overnight rest.

Day 2- Speyer to Rothenburg: A historic German journey.

Today we will spend the morning journeying back in time to one of Germany's most historically significant cities, where a magnificent Romanesque cathedral truly dominates the skyline.

Stand in awe before the UNESCO World Heritage site, Speyer Cathedral, the world's largest Romanesque church and the burial site of German emperors for over 300 years. Explore the crypt and admire the artistry of this millennium-old masterpiece.

Mid-morning we will journey to the enchanting medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Immerse yourself in a half-day journey through the historic old town, where you can truly step back in time. As night falls, you have the (optional) opportunity to join the famous Night Watchman Tour, a captivating experience that reveals the town’s secrets and stories under the cloak of darkness. After an unforgettable evening, you'll enjoy a comfortable overnight stay in Rothenburg.

 Day 3- A Tale of Two Cities: Medieval Charm and Bavarian Energy
Get ready for a day of captivating contrasts. Begin by exploring the fairytale town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, where you'll spend a half-day discovering its romantic squares and ancient city walls. After soaking up the medieval magic, we'll whisk you away to the energetic metropolis of Munich. Dive into a half-day tour of this dynamic city before checking into your central Old Town hotel for a well-deserved rest. For those who want more, raise your stein and cap off your evening with an (optional) deep dive into Germany's legendary beer scene on a famous brewery tour and tasting.

 Day 4- Munich to Neuschwanstein: A fairytale day trip-

Immerse yourself in true Bavarian culture, from bustling beer halls to strolling through lush green parks while discovering the historic charm of Old Town Munich.

Experience this morning’s daily charm of Munich at the Marienplatz and witness the famous Glockenspiel performance. 

A scenic journey from Munich will transport you to the storybook world of Neuschwanstein Castle. Your arrival is celebrated with a magnificent picnic of delicious appetizers set at the foot of this fairy-tale fortress, offering a breathtaking farewell to the Bavarian landscape. Ascend to a real-life fairytale at the majestic Neuschwanstein Castle, then return to Munich for one final night, savoring the memories of a day spent in a kingdom of dreams.

Day 5- Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Romantic Road: An alpine and medieval German journey.

Find yourself surrounded by towering peaks and stunning natural wonders in the heart of the Bavarian Alps as we spend half a day exploring stunning Garmisch- Partenkirchen.

Ascend Germany's highest peak, the Zugspitze (weather allowing) for panoramic views of four countries. Discover the breathtaking beauty of the Partnach Gorge, a natural spectacle of cascading waterfalls and dramatic rock formations.

Rhine River: The Legend-filled River-

We will sail through a picturesque river valley dotted with storybook villages, vineyards, and medieval castles as we embark upon a scenic two-hour-plus river cruise through the UNESCO-listed Upper Middle Rhine Valley. This is the heart of the "Romantic Rhine," where you'll pass dozens of ancient castles and ruins, each with its own unique story and history. From the comfort of your boat, you'll glide past steep, terraced vineyards and historic villages, with an onboard commentary revealing the legends and history of the castles and infamous Loreley Rock, where a siren was said to lure sailors with her song. 

In this region, renowned for its Riesling Wine, you'll also embark on an (optional) guided sensory journey through a family-run vineyard in Bacharach. Feel the ancient slate soil beneath your feet as you learn about the terrain that defines the region's crisp, mineral-forward wines. Our journey's final chapter is a heartfelt final evening with your new travel companions. We will gather just outside Frankfurt for a final (self-paid) dinner to raise a glass and share our favorite memories from our incredible adventure together.
