Our Story

Long before Olde World Travel became an established business, travel was already an essential part of my story. 

As a child, my father served in the military in Germany for four years, which forged a connection to the country that has always stayed with me. So, when I had the chance to return to Germany as a high school exchange student, I seized the opportunity without a second thought. 

I spent a transformative year living there, immersed in everyday life, forming friendships, learning the culture, and experiencing Germany in a way that no vacation ever could. 

Then came a moment that remains etched in my memory. 

I stood at the Berlin Wall, watched it come down, spray-painted it, and even broke off a few small pieces as tangible reminders of that powerful experience. On one side was East Berlin, and on the other, West Berlin; I could vividly see the stark contrast between these two worlds that had been divided for so long. 

History was no longer just a chapter in a textbook—it was a reality I was standing within. That experience redefined my perspective on travel forever. 

After high school, I returned to Germany and spent nearly two more years living there. I wasn't merely visiting Europe; I was engaging in authentic European tours, discovering the deeper essence of each place. Through my journeys, I learned that the most meaningful travel is about more than ticking off attractions. It's about slowing down enough to appreciate the people, the stories, the food, the traditions, and the unforgettable moments that linger long after you return home. 

This passion for experiential travel stayed with me. 

Throughout the years, I led small-group travel experiences to diverse destinations such as Italy and Germany and spent over a decade managing a travel agency. 

Yet, I eventually felt compelled to create something more personal, more intentional, and reflective of how I believe travel should feel. That's how Olde World Travel was born. 

Travel isn't just about collecting photos; it's about gathering stories. We design niche small-group journeys for travelers seeking more than a mere checklist of attractions. 

We want you to experience sharing a meal around a table with newfound friends. We want you to hear music spilling out from a local pub. We want you to wander through a European market, uncover a quaint village you never knew existed, taste something new, and hear the stories behind places you've only ever seen in photographs. 

Of course, we want you to see the famous landmarks, but we also want you to embrace the moments in between because those are often the memories that you carry home.
