My connection to Germany began three decades ago as an exchange student witnessing the fall of the Berlin Wall—a life-altering experience that turned my curiosity into a lifelong commitment to European heritage. For our Spring 2027 residency, I am drawing on those years of lived experiences to craft a special journey that goes way beyond the surface. We will use heritage-rich 'base camps' to explore the landscape, avoiding the frantic pace of typical travel to ensure you have the time to truly connect and fully immerse within the culture. This is an invitation to explore a Germany that has lived through immense change, yet remains beautifully rooted in its deep traditions.

This ten-day journey through Germany offers a rich immersion into the country’s romantic landscapes, medieval history, and vibrant Bavarian culture. After starting in Heidelberg to explore its iconic castle and charming Old Town, you will visit the historic Speyer Cathedral before spending time in the postcard-perfect medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The tour then shifts to the energetic atmosphere of Munich, where you will experience traditional beer halls, the famous Glockenspiel, and local markets, followed by a visit to the legendary Neuschwanstein Castle and a scenic exploration of the stunning Bavarian Alps in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The adventure concludes with a transition back to the Rhine Valley, where you will enjoy a relaxing river cruise past ancient castles and experience an intimate, private tasting at a family-run vineyard in the heart of Germany’s wine country.
