Romantic Italy- 14 Day Tour (Detailed Itinerary)

Your Romantic Italy Itinerary

Day 1: Thursday — Depart for Italy-

  • Departure: The Journey Begins: Board your overnight flight to Italy, filled with anticipation for      the romantic getaway ahead.

     

Day 2: Friday — Arrive in Milan, Transfer to Lake Como-

  • Arrival & Transfer: Land in Milan and enjoy a seamless transfer to your hotel in the charming town of Como, nestled along the shores of legendary Lake Como—one of Italy's most      enchanting and romantic destinations.
  • At Leisure: Spend the afternoon unwinding and exploring the breathtaking lakeside surroundings at your own pace.
  • Welcome Reception:
    • Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM  (Orientation meeting begins at approximately 6:00 PM).
    • Details: Meet your Tour Manager and fellow travelers over complimentary wine, beer, and appetizers.

✈️ Travel Tip: To ensure you arrive relaxed and on time for the Welcome Reception, we recommend selecting flights that land in Milan no later than 4:00 PM.

Overnight: Como

 

Day 3: Saturday — Cross Lake Como to the Village of Bellagio-

  • Morning Lake Cruise: Set sail on a scenic morning boat ride across the sparkling waters of Lake Como to the picturesque village of Bellagio, widely celebrated as "The Pearl of Lake Como" and one of Italy's most breathtaking towns.
  • Explore Bellagio: Wander through the steep, narrow alleyways framed by earthy-colored buildings, cypress groves, and charming artisan boutiques, craft shops, and cafés. Lunch      provided locally.
  • Choose Your Afternoon Adventure:
    • Option A: Ride the funicular up to Brunate to take in sweeping panoramic vistas of the lake and Alps.
    • Option B: Stroll through the stunning, manicured gardens and fountains at Villa Melzi or Villa Serbelloni.
  • Return to Como: Cruise back across the lake with the afternoon and evening at leisure to enjoy Como's magnificent mountain views, boutique shopping, and romantic waterfront dining.
  • Overnight: Como

Day 4: Sunday — Verona Walking Tour & Travel to Venice-

  • Journey to Verona: Following breakfast, depart Lake Como for the historic city of Verona, a      UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its remarkably preserved Roman ruins, millennia of continuous architectural history, and as the timeless setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
  • Guided Walking Tour: Enjoy an orientation walking tour of Verona's highlights, followed by free time to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the historic center. Lunch provided locally.
  • Transfer to Venice: Continue your journey eastward to the floating city of Venice for your evening arrival.
  • Overnight: Venice
  • Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch (Note: Dinner is self-pay)


Day 5: Monday — Murano Glassblowing, Venetian Landmarks & Gondolas-

  • Morning Lagoon Cruise: Begin your exploration of Venice with a boat ride to the island of Murano, globally renowned for its centuries-old tradition of artistic glassware. Visit a local factory to watch master artisans at work during a live glassblowing demonstration.
  • Lagoon Exploration: Continue your boat tour with visits to the colorful island of Burano and the      historic island of Torcello.
  • Venice Walking Tour: Head over to the main island of Venice for a guided walking tour through the labyrinth of romantic alleyways, canals, and bridges leading to St. Mark's Square.
  • Architectural Marvels: Admire the striking exterior facades of Venice's most iconic monuments, including:
    • The Doge’s Palace: The magnificent pink-marble former residence of the Venetian rulers.
    • The Bridge of Sighs: One of the city's most romantic and photographed sights.
    • Basilica di       San Marco: The breathtaking cathedral showcasing a grand fusion of Byzantine, Roman, and Venetian architecture.
  • Afternoon at Leisure: Spend the rest of the day exploring Venice independently or join an optional afternoon gondola ride for a classic perspective of the floating city from the water.

Day 6: Tuesday — Tuscany, Pisa & Historic Hill Towns En Route to Florence-

  • Scenic Drive to Tuscany: Depart Venice and journey south through the sun-drenched, rolling landscapes of Tuscany, framed by olive groves and rolling hills.
  • Tuscan Farm Experience: Stop at a local countryside farm for an exclusive wine tasting paired with delicious regional specialties.
  • Medieval Gubbio & San Gimignano:
    • Visit Gubbio, an exceptionally preserved medieval hill town nicknamed the "City of       Stone" for its dark limestone architecture clinging to Mount Ingino.
    • Continue to San Gimignano, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its iconic medieval towers and sweeping panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside.
  • Pisa's Piazza dei Miracoli: Arrive in the late afternoon in Pisa to explore the world-famous Piazza dei Miracoli, featuring the historic Duomo, the Baptistery, the Monumental Cemetery, and      the iconic Leaning Tower—a stunning blend of Romanesque and Gothic      architecture.
  • Tuscan Villa Stay: Conclude your day with an overnight stay in an authentic historic Tuscan villa (Dinner is self-pay).

Day 7: Wednesday — Renaissance Florence & Accademia Gallery-

  • Journey to Florence: Travel from your Tuscan villa into the vibrant heart of the Renaissance, renowned the world over for its priceless art, history, and magnificent architecture.
  • Guided Walking Tour: Stroll through the historic center with a local expert to discover Florence’s most treasured landmarks:
    • The Duomo: Marvel at the  cathedral and its iconic dome engineered by Brunelleschi.
    • The Baptistery: View the intricate, gilded bronze doors known as the "Gates of Paradise" by Ghiberti, alongside Giotto’s elegant Bell Tower.
    • Piazza della Signoria: Walk through this open-air museum framed by historic sculptures and the imposing Palazzo Vecchio, the original seat of the Medici family and current city hall.
    • Ponte Vecchio: Cross the  city's famous medieval stone bridge lined with historic jewelry shops.
  • Accademia Gallery Visit: Enjoy included admission to the Accademia Gallery for an independent exploration of world-class masterpieces (including Michelangelo’s original David).      Lunch provided locally.
  • Afternoon at Leisure: Spend your afternoon exploring Florence's boutiques, artisan shops, and gelaterias on your own.

Day 8: Thursday — Medieval Assisi En Route to Rome-

  • Departure for Umbria: Leave Florence behind and journey south toward the heart of the Umbria region, making a stop in the breathtaking hilltop town of Assisi.
  • Assisi Walking Tour: Discover this UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous as the birthplace of St. Francis of Assisi (the patron saint of Italy). Wander its medieval, winding stone streets and visit the legendary Basilica di San Francesco to view its stunning 13th-century frescoes by Giotto and house sacred relics.
  • Arrival in the Eternal City: Continue your journey out of the hills and into Italy's capital, the historic city of Rome, built across seven legendary hills.
  • Overnight: Rome

Day 9: Friday — Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel & Historic Piazzas-

  • Vatican Treasures: Discover one of the world's greatest art collections inside the Vatican Museums. Wander through the Gallery of Tapestries and the Gallery of Geographical Maps before stepping into the breathtaking Sistine Chapel to marvel at Michelangelo's legendary ceiling frescoes.
  • St. Peter's Square: Walk out into majestic St. Peter's Square, framed by Bernini’s sweeping colonnade, to view the exterior of St. Peter’s Basilica, built over the traditional burial site of Saint Peter.

    • Optional Walking Tour: Join an afternoon guided tour of Rome's most famous historic squares and monuments, featuring the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain (make sure to toss a coin!), the exterior of the Pantheon, and the vibrant Piazza Navona.
  • Evening: Enjoy dinner on your own at one of Rome's cozy neighborhood trattorias, pairing      authentic Roman cuisine with fine local wine.

💡 Please Note: Depending on available museum time slots, the Vatican visit may shift to the afternoon, and the optional Rome Piazzas tour may operate in the morning.

Day 10: Saturday — Ancient Rome & Sunset Vespa Tour-

  • Heart of Ancient Rome: Step back in time with a walk along the archaeological paths of the Roman Forum, the bustling political and social center of antiquity.
  • Imperial Icons:
    • View the triumphal Arch of Constantine, built to honor the emperor's historic victory.
    • Marvel at the exterior of the mighty Colosseum, the grand amphitheater that once hosted legendary gladiatorial games and spectacles for up to 50,000  spectators.
  • Colosseum Toast: Gather with your fellow travelers to raise a glass of wine or beer with a view of the Colosseum in the distance (self-pay). Lunch provided locally.
  • Afternoon Adventure: Enjoy free time to explore the Eternal City on your own or opt for an unforgettable Vespa Sunset Ride (with a professional driver) zooming through the iconic historical streets of Rome.
  • Farewell Evening: Conclude your day with a scenic evening drive past illuminated monuments, followed by a festive group dinner featuring local wine and music (self-pay).

Day 11: Sunday — Pompeii Archaeological Tour & The Sorrento Coast-

  • Journey South: Head south toward the Mediterranean, catching a distant glimpse of the historic      mountaintop Abbey of Montecassino (weather permitting), famously rebuilt after its destruction in World War II.
  • Pompeii Exploration: Pass the sweeping Bay of Naples, framed by the looming silhouette of Mount Vesuvius, to visit the legendary ruins of Pompeii. Walk the ancient, chariot-rutted stone streets of a city frozen in time by volcanic ash nearly 2,000 years ago, viewing the remarkably preserved Forum, the Temples of Apollo and Jupiter, and the poignant plaster casts of      residents.
  • Arrival on the Coast: Continue your journey to the dramatic cliffs and sapphire waters of the Sorrento Coast.
  • Evening: Unwind and enjoy dinner together with your group overlooking the coast (self-pay).

Day 12: Monday — Sorrento Coast at Leisure or Optional Capri Excursion-

  • Day at Leisure: Spend a relaxing day soaking in the breathtaking beauty of the Sorrento Coast,      where colorful cliffside towns plunge dramatically into the azure sea.
  • Optional Isle of Capri Tour:
    • Boat Ride & Anacapri: Board a boat for the enchanting Isle of Capri, wandering the chic, boutique-lined lanes of Anacapri and tasting local artisanal limoncello. Lunch provided locally.
    • La Piazzetta  & Gardens of Augustus: Socialize in the vibrant heart of the island at La Piazzetta, then stroll through the fragrant Gardens of Augustus for iconic panoramic views of the sea and the towering Faraglioni rock formations.
  • Return & Dinner: Return to the mainland for a relaxing evening and a final group dinner along the coast (self-pay).

Day 13: Tuesday — The Amalfi Drive & Farewell Toast-

  • The Amalfi Coast Drive: Experience one of the most breathtaking coastal drives in the world along the rugged Amalfi Coast. Wind along dramatic cliffside roads flanked by terraced lemon groves, cascading whitewashed villas, and sweeping views of the turquoise sea.
  • Positano & Amalfi: Enjoy a scenic drive past the colorful cliffside village of Positano, followed by free time to explore the historic, UNESCO-listed town of Amalfi at your leisure.
  • Return & Farewell Toast: Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. Tonight, gather with your fellow travelers for a complimentary glass of wine or beer to celebrate your unforgettable      journey and toast to your next adventure with Olde World Travel!

Day 14: Wednesday — Depart Italy-

  • Airport Transfer: Enjoy a final breakfast before your transfer to the Naples airport for your return flight home, taking lifelong memories of Italy with you that will last a lifetime.
