At Olde World Travel, we pride ourselves on providing intimate, authentic, and active experiences. Our tours are designed for the traveler who values immersion over convenience. Because our trips are physically active and emphasize flexibility, it is essential that every guest is prepared for the unique nature of our tours.
Please review these expectations carefully. By joining us, you acknowledge and accept these responsibilities to Olde World Travel and your fellow guests. If you have any concerns about these requirements, please contact us before booking.
1. Physical Activity-
Our tours involve significant activity. To fully participate, you must be comfortable and capable of the following without assistance:
- Walking & Mobility: Walking 2–8 miles per day over uneven cobblestone streets and climbing stairs.
- Stamina: Being on your feet for up to four hours at a time, including during museum tours and outdoor sightseeing in all weather conditions.
- Luggage Handling: We strongly advise traveling light with one carry-on-sized bag (approx. 21" x 14" x 9") and one personal day pack. You must be able to carry or roll your own luggage for 15 minutes between the van and hotel, and navigate multiple flights of stairs, as many of our historic hotels do not have elevators.
- Independence: Following a brief orientation, you should be confident navigating towns and cities on your own.
- Note: Our guides are unable to provide personal physical assistance. If you require aid, you must travel with a companion who is fully responsible for providing that assistance.
2. Accommodations & Amenities-
We prioritize authentic, historic, and centrally located properties over generic chain hotels. As a result, please expect:
- Limited or no air conditioning and minimal elevator access.
- Potential street noise, reflecting the charm of living in the historic heart of the city.
- Variable Wi-Fi speeds, which may occasionally be limited to common areas.
3. Our "No Grumps" Policy-
Travel is an adventure, and we believe it’s best enjoyed with an open mind. We ask all guests to:
- Stay Flexible: Travel can be unpredictable. Whether it’s a traffic delay or an itinerary adjustment, we ask that you embrace the surprise.
- Be Considerate: Please practice respectful social behavior toward your fellow travelers.
- Van Seating: To keep things fair, seating in our van is first-come, first-served each day.
- Group Size: In rare circumstances, we may add one additional guest above our standard group limit.
- Respectful Conduct: Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited on the van, in hotels, or in the presence of other tour members.
4. Health & Safety-
Your well-being, along with that of your fellow guests and our local partners, is paramount. You agree to follow all health and safety directives issued by your guide, Olde World Travel, or local officials. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Maintaining social distancing, proper hand hygiene, and the use of face masks when required by local policy.
- Adhering to any health protocols mandated by the venues we visit.
